Happy Birthday Kenzie
It is hard to believe that Kenzie turned one today!
Gram has made each of the kids a blanket for their first birthday.
Kenzie received hers today.
Christmas 2007
We had a great Christmas, but our best gift arrived Christmas Eve. We surprised the kids with a visit from Gram and Papaw!
I was up at 6 am in preparation for my little ones to discover that Santa had paid a visit to our house.
They must have been very tired because they all slept until after 8 am.

First Movie
Doug and Maddie took Connor to see his first movie. They went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Connor sat through the entire movie like a champ!

The room moms in Maddie's class made these adorable shirts for all of the kids to wear for their holiday party.

Almost 1 ?!?!?
I can't believe that my teeny, tiny (16lb)baby will be one in 12 days! I am not ready for her to grow up. She is such a sweet, mild mannered child. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face. Everywhere we go, people comment on my smiley baby.
My good friend Holli gave her this hat as soon as I found out that I was having another
girl and she has been wearing it since she was a newborn.

Sugar Cookie Decorating
We decorated sugar cookies on saturday. I am hoping to make this a tradition as I have many fond memories of decorating cookies at my Aunt Kaye's house. She makes the BEST sugar cookies (Uncle Dick counted and she made 500 this year!)
Our whole family participated. Kenzie ate a cookie and looked on. Connor iced one cookie, took a bite and then ate the icing that was on his plate. He then retired to the family room to rescue something. Maddie was her usual artistic self and decorated many beautiful icing-laden cookies. Doug decorated one cookie at a time and then cleaned his plate off between each (the key to a beautiful cookie). Maddie told him that his cookies looked "professional." I wasn't feeling so artistic after spending the entire morning baking, cleaning and mixing up icing. My cookies were of the single color icing and sprinkle variety. They all taste the same right?!?!?
Dinner and Dessert!
Spaghetti always makes for such great pictures. I gave him a bath as soon as he finished and then he and daddy had Oreos for dessert!

Christmas Decorating
We spent last saturday decorating the house for Christmas. We got our tree out and realized that it is too small for our new house. We decided that it will work this year, but we will be hitting the after-Christmas sales for a
new tree for next year.
We had fun pulling out the ornaments and remembering where they all came from. I had bought a Veggie Tales Nativity set on clearance last year and the kids were very excited to play with it. Connor though the stockings were for his feet. Such a funny kid- always making us laugh!
Kenzie the Babysitter
Our friends, Maria and baby Zach, were visiting. I sat Kenzie down on the floor and
turned my back to her. When I turned back around, she was standing at Zach's carseat. She was so gentle with him- stroking his face and patting his head. She is such a gentle soul!Tuesday, December 4, 2007
Dear Santa...
A good friend sent this to me and I thought that it was too good not to post......
Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my own doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases. I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles; and who knows when I'll find any more free time in the next 18 years.
*** Here are my Christmas wishes ****
I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (-in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.
* I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy. * If you're hauling big-ticket items this year, I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.
* On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.
* I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting, "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dogIf it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.If you don't mind, I could also use a few miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.Well, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing, and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his red crayon back. Have a safe trip Santa, and remember to leave your wet boots by the door, and come in and dry off, so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table, but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.
